Stacey Fennessy
FinOps Assistant Manager
I joined flinder in August 2019. I had previously been doing an apprenticeship and joined as an Associate, then later got promoted to Senior Associate in 2021.
I've been working on my ACCA for the last couple of years and I'm looking to progress to Manager soon hopefully.
We're very team/pod-aligned and have a prioritised and streamlined process from start to finish. With the team growing, it's exciting to see our growth. We have a great team culture and lots of pride around that. We really support each other with work load and have a peer group among the Senior Associates which is helpful too. My main exposure is with E-commerce clients, but I also have some involvement with Tech & SaaS sector clients, supporting some of the Associates to understand the sector they're working in.
I think that's the one thing with flinder, we work as a team. There isn't a level change, we help each other to get things over the line and help with each other's workload.
My manager, Jessica Sanghera, helps to get me involved.
The one thing that I enjoyed about flinder when I started was how relaxed and welcoming they were. It was very different than my previous experience. I wasn't very gelled previously before joining flinder. We're all quite similar here, all really good personalities, all have a lot of common sense and a good sense of humour meaning we all get along very well. It's felt like I should have been here all along. We're very welcoming of new people, we wrap our arms around them.
We make sure to drive that culture to include the offshore team as well. I went to visit them last year in India. It was great to get to know them on a personal level, to connect and create the unity of the team, understand their work and I encouraged them to be a bit more vocal. It feels like they're more integrated now and we want them to feel they are part of the onshore team.
One of the surprises when I joined the team was having access to the COO and CEO. It's an open relationship. At the socials, they just get involved, it allows you to be open and that translates to my role and embrace my role in the way it should be. I feel really valued. It's so different and refreshing - the type of environment everyone wants to work in.
The culture is the USP, our people are our best selling point. There's so much humanity among us, it's just not corporate, we add such a personal touch to all that we do - with our clients and our colleagues.
Everyone is lovely and a great environment to work in - we're always doing things together, it's very inclusive and that's what makes it special working here.
