Andy Hawkins
FinOps Senior Associate
I work remotely, which has been pretty seamless since joining flinder nine months ago. Everyone is very connected, with Slack and so on.
With our pod (team), social and business channels, everything works really well. It's always nice to see people in person of course, when I do come into the office.
There's a good rhythm for me, once a fortnight I'm in London. I always get a bit of boost in the office, and I get to see a few clients when I'm in, which is great to see them face to face.
However, I'm able to connect to clients regardless that I'm not in London all the time, which has been a great benefit. I have good client relationships as I'm working to build rapport.
The pod I joined was fairly new at the time I joined but it doesn't feel like that now - we've grown really well together. We've grown in size and it feels balanced and structured. The calls we have are both formal and informal. They aren't just a tick box exercise - they feel productive and we get things done which feels really supportive. Same for all the calls across the business.
flinder has a really good culture of productivity mixed with a social element. As a Senior Associate, and using the people manager structure that's in place, I have a path mapped ahead which is supportive for progression - in terms of moving from level to level within the team.
Equally, we have very open lines of communication in our team. I feel I can speak honestly with both my people manager and Fatima, the Portfolio CFO I work with most.
As for co-founder and COO Luke, I've always been impressed by how he can jump from one task to the next too. He sets the standard high which is inspiring!
I also feel like as a team we're updated in good time, whether that's in the leadership channel or All Hands meetings, giving us enough to understand where the business is going and feeling connected to everyone.
